  • When two people compliment each other like this, their future is bound to be filled with joy and laughter.  Eric and Ashly had a beautiful wedding in August.  It was classic, all the way through.   Everyone had a blast and I think that is such a great thing at weddings, everyone laughing and celebrating.

Eric had a vision about his images with the groomsmen and I was glad to play along.

The guys brought their own props.

Eric rallying the guys.  He's always on....

And on the girls side, they were having just as much fun.

The First Look....Ashly and Eric tucked away 5 minutes before the ceremony to see each other and ensure that their hearts and minds were ready for the committment that was to come.

I'll never forget Eric asking to see Ashly, sending the message "I really want to see you, please".

    favs20080815_0036web

He stood patiently waiting with his back turned.

    favs20080815_0070WEB

We don't want to ruin Eric's first sight of Ashly coming down the aisle, so he remained with his back to the door until Ashly was directly behind him.  I just loved the look on their faces as she neared him, anticipation was palpable.

    favs20080815_0071web

And THE FIRST LOOK....wow, is there any doubt once you see the look on his face that he is so ready?

    favs20080815_0072web

Nothing was said for the longest time.  They just held each others gaze.  Their smiles say it all.  Then the emotions came....

    favs20080815_0074web

The tears flowed.  I have never been so sure that two people were meant to be married, were as committed to each other as they would need to be....until I was in this room and was blessed to experience these quiet moments between Ashly and Eric.

Then it was time to say goodbye...

This had to be the funniest thing I have ever witnessed at a reception.  The guys had horns that sounded like geese.  So, what to do next?  Form your own flock and take flight ;)

  • Last weekend, Jordan Chan and I shot Jon and Christina's wedding.  It was so nice to work with Jordan.

This was the calmest group getting ready.  A little anxiety but not much...it was clear that Jon and Christina were both ready to make their lifelong commitment to each other.

For me, this was one of the sweetest moments of the day.  Rick, Christina's dad, realized that she was in the Bride's room waiting by herself.  His running to get to her showed  his dedication and desire to be there for his girls.  As a girl who didn't get to experience this kind of support from my own dad, it brought tears to my eyes....which isn't unusual, I know.  I'm a crier. :)

Cactus Country did an amazing job playing at the reception.  It was a fun filled evening with a Grand March that last a whopping 27 minutes...almost a record!

    You go, fellas!

    basha25web

The evening was over too soon.  It was filled with wonderful food catered by Troy and Nancy Brown,  a great performance by Cactus Country and a wonderful young couple who are definately in love.  It was an evening that left us smiling as we loaded our gear and headed home.  Their wedding was such a celebration, a true representation of their love and the uniting of two special families.

I just wanted to say "thanks" to Jordan, my girls (Maegan and Katie), and our photog-in-training and good friend, Lacie.

  • Saturday Wedding of Christina and John

It's been such a busy week.  I went to Cooper last weekend for a workshop at the Veraska's wonderful studio. Then back home to see David Jay and Jasmine Star in Austin on Wednesday evening....that was really inspiring.  It was just the pick me up that I needed.  Friday brought Senior model shoots and Saturday a wedding...plus normal studio life and I can't forget that I have 3 kiddos.  Wow...where did the week go?  I needed something to center me, slow me down.  I didn't think that I would find it in a wedding, but I did.  I don't know when I've smiled and laughed as much as I did this Saturday.  It's so nice to be part of something so special with people that are just so genuine.  Christina and John have a wonderful love story, it makes me smile as I type and I can't wait to share their story and images. :)

I'll post a video and images when I get to the studio tomorrow.  I had wanted to post the video tonight, but alas...my slow internet at the house strikes again!  Surely Time-Warner will be in Harvest Hills soon!

BTW, the code on the cards from the reception had an error!!! The password is 19716-Basha.  That's a big OOPS on my part and I apologize.  You can log onto the Collages website and register your email address.  The website will notify you when the images are online.

  • The Dominion

We had the opportunity to shoot an engagement session for Meghan and Jonathon at The Dominion.  We are so happy that we will be photographing their October wedding!

I will post images of the engagement session as soon as possible.  I just wanted to share a few of their "baby", Daisy.  We had so much fun with Daisy.  She's about 5 months old and was adopted from the Schertz Animal Shelter.  Jonathon is a firefighter so Daisy's Dalmation spots are absolutely perfect when she's at the station.  Everyone knows that I absolutely love dogs & I really enjoyed being around Daisy's pleasant nature.

Daisy is actually really comfortable here!  I squatted down to say "hello" and up she jumped and stayed....

About Me

  • The most important thing in life to me is my family; my kids and my husband. My 12 years as an educator have taught me how to interact with almost every personality. I bring this skill with me when I pick up my camera. This interaction and ability to connect with my subjects aids me in getting images that speak to who the subject is as a person. I'm a political scientist by degree, a teacher by trade but have had a camera since my youngest days. I spent summers at Tech in photography classes during JHS. My dad kept a dark room in the house. After my last child was born, the hobby became my second profession. It's enabled me to satisy my need to create and has given me the ability to be with my children.
